Looking for some HOPE to manage your struggles with a Personality Disorder?
Personality disorders have been met with misunderstanding and stigma for decades. Roughly 10 percent of Americans will experience one or more personality disorders. Unfortunately, many of these people will choose not to get treatment because of the shame they feel over their diagnosis. At Petoskey Center, we provide specialized care that helps patients understand their diagnosis and find a way to reduce their shame and self-loathing that often goes along with their diagnosis. We help patients understand that personality disorders are NOT indicative that a person is "bad" or damaged goods. Instead, personality disorders are ways of coping with the world that may have worked at one point in their lives but now tend to cause more problems than they solve.
Treatment for personality disorders is about understanding these strategies, which have become ineffective, and helping patients begin to shift toward more healthy and effective strategies. Our program can be particularly helpful for patients struggling with Borderline, Histrionic, Narcissistic, Avoidant, Dependent, and Obsessive-Compulsive traits or disorders.
We welcome patients from across the Greater Houston area, including but not limited to Richmond, Sugarland, Bellaire, Katy, Pearland, The Woodlands, Conroe, and League City.
Personality Disorder Treatment Programs
Our Intensive outpatient program (IOP) it Houston, Texas can be very helpful for people struggling with personality disorders. Our program is designed to provide our patients with the structure and support they need to do the necessary work to find some relief from their personality disorder symptoms.
By design, intensive outpatient programs ask patients to make a commitment to their recovery by showing up for frequent sessions. Our IOP also asks for active participation in our safe space. We educate patients on the importance of being honest with themselves about their thoughts and feelings, and we work hard to create a forum where people can address their maladaptive behaviors.
Our intensive outpatient program for personality disorders provides structure with a combination of individual and group sessions, which allows patients to focus on personal goals while also having the opportunity to learn from and engage with peers struggling with similar issues.
Personality disorders and other mental health conditions often share comorbidity. At Petoskey Center, our intensive outpatient program also helps people struggling with: ●Depression ●Trauma ●Anxiety
