Values & Identity Group
Therapist: Ramsha Momin, LMSW (Supervised by Valorie George, LCSW-S)
The Values and Identity group aims to help patients explore and understand themselves more deeply in terms of their values and identity. Through the use of writing, art, memories, and dialogue patients are encouraged to dive deeper into what makes them, them. We examine how our families, relationships, culture, and community have shaped the lens in which we see ourselves and the world. Our goal is to help patients have a better understanding of themselves and rediscover who they truly are and what they value. This group will meet once a week.
Family and Friends Group (not currently running)
6:30-8pm First Wednesday of the month
Mental Wellness is a complicated issue! Mental health and psychotherapy can be confusing and daunting to both the person struggling with mental health issues as well as their family and friends. We would like to help reduce some of this confusion by providing a forum for learning and discussion for family and friends of those with mental illness.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn some of the core dialectical behavior therapy skills and about the concept of mentalizing --- both of which can help 1) improve communication, 2) address conflict, and 3) deepen understanding of hard to understand issues.
